“The Regimental Guard” is the first in a series of paintings of the iconic experiences of Culver Summer Schools & Camps. The style of the works in this series are inspired by Regionalist painter Thomas Hart Benton, Golden Age American illustrators Mead Shaeffer and NC Wyeth, & American Impressionists Granville Redmond & Edgar Payne.

Jesse Mangerson is a Fine Art Painter and Educator living in Madison, WI with his wife & two children. He works as a full time faculty member & leader in the MFA Fine Art Department for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA where he authors & teaches online courses from his studio in Madison. Jesse’s Fine Art work has been shown in galleries throughout the US. Much of his recent work has focused on commissioned figure, portraiture, & Landscape painting.

 As a young man he attended Culver’s summer program (W ’91, NB ’94) through the generosity of his Grandparents, Charles (Chuck) & Caroline (Chuggie) Adams, owners of the famed Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso, IN. Jesse was a Cub in Division 3, a Beaver in the Drum & Bugle Corps, & played the base drum in the Naval Band where he graduated as Company Commander.
